Session Overview
Starting couples therapy can feel intimidating, but the first session is simply a chance to understand your relationship and what you’re hoping to work on together. We’ll explore your relationship history, patterns, and the challenges and strengths you bring as a couple.
In session, you’ll have space to share your experiences, feel heard, and better understand each other’s perspectives. We’ll also focus on practical ways to connect, communicate, and manage conflict, so you leave with insight and tools you can use in everyday life. The work is both reflective and actionable, helping you deepen your emotional bond while addressing the patterns that create distance or frustration.
I often find that couples experience the most meaningful change when they come before things feel really bad. Even if you’re unsure, early support can help you navigate challenges, strengthen your connection, and prevent frustration from becoming entrenched.
The first session is also a chance to talk about how I work, what therapy with me looks like, and to make sure it feels like a good fit. My goal is to create a space where both partners feel safe, supported, and heard while approaching the work with honesty, curiosity, and moments of lightness.
Location
In-Person & Virtual
Sessions are available in person in North Vancouver on Wednesdays + Thursdays, or virtually across Ontario and British Columbia, ensuring accessibility for everyone.
Focus
Real Support For Real Life
I work with couples and individuals who want to understand their patterns, strengthen connection, and navigate life together more consciously.
Whether you’re struggling with recurring conflict, communication challenges, attachment wounds, betrayal, parenting constraints, cultural differences, or questions around sexuality, therapy can help you gain insight into your relationship dynamics and build skills to relate more effectively. You’ll have space to explore emotions, process challenges, and deepen your connection in ways that feel meaningful and practical.
Many couples find the most success when they come before things feel really bad. Even small struggles or ongoing frustrations are worth addressing early, giving you tools to prevent patterns from becoming entrenched and helping you grow together as a couple.
Approach
How We'll Work Together
My approach to couples therapy is collaborative, flexible, and tailored to your relationship. I draw from the Developmental Model for Couples Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Gottman strategies, and Relational Life Therapy (RLT) to help couples understand patterns, strengthen connection, and navigate challenges. In sessions, you can expect a mix of reflection and practical work. We explore how you relate to each other, uncover underlying emotions, and develop skills for communicating, managing conflict, and deepening intimacy.
Every couple is different, so therapy is not one-size-fits-all. Some sessions focus on insight and understanding patterns, while others are more experiential, helping you connect with emotions, each other, and your shared goals. I also address real-life factors that can impact your relationship, including parenting constraints, cultural differences, attachment dynamics, betrayal, and questions around sexuality.
I bring both depth and lightness into the work. Therapy can hold space for difficult and complex emotions while also making room for curiosity, humour, and real human connection. My goal is to create a space where both partners feel safe, heard, and supported while also being gently challenged to grow together.
